intro
Welcome to the homepage of  Saint Stephen Vocational Secondary School of Economics.

Either you have found us by chance or deliberately, please do continue reading. This page gives an outline of the life of the school from 1887 (the year when it was established) until now.  It also summarises the changes and advances in training, and presents the cultural and other activities taking place at the school as well. Our successful sports life deserves special attention. It should be highlighted because it has been playing a significant and determining role in the life of our school for years

We would like to call the attention of 8th graders who have not decided where to continue their studies to the fact that our homepage includes the training system and the schedule of the 9th-12th graders, and all the opportunities available for students wishing to participate in the free time programmes organised by the school (such as eco programmes, sports events, etc.).

Have a pleasant browsing!

Saint Stephen SC
Our prestigious and successful achievements in national and international championships

Introduction

Both the football club and the handball team play outstanding roles in the sports life of our school. The handball section was established in 2006. Their greatest success was achieved in 2010 in Portugal at the World School Handball Championship, where our girls won the bronze medal. At the moment they play in the second division of the national championship. The football section dates back to the 1970s. Our footballers have come a long way since then. They started with indoor, 5-a-side football matches played within the section, and now they are permanent participants in the national championships. They must have become successful and professional players thanks to their endless love and passion towards playing football.

At the moment our football section runs 2 junior teams in the professional championships of clubs. They play high level football in top divisions, such as the first division and the second line of the first division of the national championship for different age groups.

National successes:

We accomplished our greatest success in 1999. Our ’A’ team won the National Championship 10 points ahead, and the junior ’B’ team came second. After this huge success the following article was published in the National Sport:
Saint Stephen: A historic deed

International successes

Saint Stephen footballers participated in a tournament in Norway in July, 1987. In the Norwegian Cup, organised in Oslo, the Hungarian students came 5th out of the 37 participants.
Two teams visited Minneapolis, USA in July, 1988. In the championship for 16-year-old students they won the 5th place out of 19 competitors, while the 18-year-old footballers came 7th out of the 56 participants.
Our students fought 24 teams in the Brazilian Cup, organised in Rio de Janeiro in the summer of 1989. Saint Stephen SC won the 5th place. After this, the team went over to Canada for the Canadian Cup taking place in Winnipeg. Our team qualified for the finals, but unfortunately, we could only get the illustrious silver medal.
